Josh Taylor, Scottish boxer nicknamed ‘The Tartan Tornado’ in the boxing ring is yet another of our success stories. The first Scottish lightweight boxer who went to the Olympics since 1956 when legendary Dick McTaggart won a gold in Melbourne, Taylor is also the sixth Great Britain boxer who confirmed his place in the London Olympics after reaching the semi-finals in Turkey in April 2012. His long-time coach Terry McCormack had commended his hard work and performance stating that the results were the outcome of three years of non-stop hard work from Taylor. 

Taylor’s professional boxing career started in 2015, with his professional debut match turning into glorious victory when he defeated Archie Weah in a technical knockout. The commonwealth light-welterweight was won by Taylor first in Oct 2016, which he retained later in 2017 twice.  Taylor went on to win the WBC Silver light-welterweight title first time in July 2017, and later brought home the title four times consecutively. Known for his technical knockouts, he further worked his way and lifted the Muhammad Ali Trophy as winner of the World Boxing Super Series -Light-welterweight final title and the vacant The Ring light-welterweight title in Oct 2019. At the same time, he also retained the IBF light-welterweight title that he first won in May 2019.
