Thank you for choosing to provide our client a support letter for their visa petition. Support letters are essential to the success of the beneficiary’s petition and there is pressure from USCIS to provide certain details in the letter. Otherwise, USCIS is becoming more aggressive in finding ways to find the support letter non persuasive and/or not sufficient to support the accomplishments of the beneficiary.

Below we have links to our support letter guide, instructions for our support letter process, and tip for what to include in your letter to be persuasive and credible. Please reference the support letter guide for suggested language usage and templates to use as examples.

Support Letter Process

  1. Please reference the support guide to draft a letter and save in word format. Please also reference tips from USCIS feedback below these instructions

  2. Please send the draft letter to info@sherrodsportsvisas.com

    1. Please include the subject line: Beneficiary name | Support Letter | Your Name

    2. Please include the document in word format

    3. Please attach your resume

    4. Please attach any useful information that can confirm your experience and expertise to be included in the file.

  3. We will make adjustments to the letter and send it back to you for execution. Please put the draft on letterhead and send back to us at info@sherrodsportsvisas.com with the subject line: Beneficiary name | Support Letter | Your Name

Tips for USCIS Consideration

  1. Please take time to introduce yourself and expertise in the field of endeavor

  2. Please make special note of any accomplishment of the beneficiary that deals with the following areas

    1. P-1 Visa Support Letter

      1. Participation and significant contribution with the national team of foreign countries

      2. Favorable consultation letter from the governing body or regulatory governance of the sport/activity

      3. Previous experience with an NCAA school, college, or university varsity team as a student

      4. International ranking from a reputable source

      5. Participating with a U.S. major league team in the previous season

      6. Support letters from industry experts, other high level athletes, and reputable media personalities. 

      7. National and International Awards

    2. O-1 and EB-1 Support Letters

      1. Significant national and international awards

      2. Judging and evaluating the work of others

      3. Favorable and detailed support letters from experts, other high level athletes, and media insiders

      4. Special contribution of techniques, coaching methods, and more to your sport

      5. Scholarly articles written by the beneficiary

      6. Membership of a prestigious organization

      7. Articles and publications about the beneficiary 

      8. High salary compared to other athletes or professionals in the same sport

      9. Previous employment in a critical or essential capacity

  3. Other tips

    1. Please remember to explain why accomplishments are important

    2. Try to be more than just complimentary of the beneficiary

    3. Provide context of why the beneficiary is known in more than one country

    4. Provide context of how the beneficiary compares to others in the same field of endeavor around the world
