Serving As Petitioner For P-1 And O-1 Visas For Passive Income

P1 Visa regulations for athletes

Every visa in the P-1 (Athletes and Music Groups) and O-1 (Musicians, Creatives, Entrepreneurs, Coaches, and more) category requires a “petitioner” to sign off on the visa petitions. Under my sports agency, SDS Sports Group, I have made plenty of passive income by serving as the petitioner for visas when the visa applicant does not have another resource.

Typically we charge US $1,000 - $2,000 per application to serve as the petitioner. It really only requires having an LLC and a mailing address.

What do I have to do?

You use your business name to sign the I-129 P-1 or O-1 immigration forms and agree to receive immigration notices for the person for the length of the visa. You will also gather to the documents (if needed) for the immigration law firm to write up the petition.

That's really it. The immigration law firm will prepare the application, file the documents, and respond to requests for more evidence.
