P-1 and O-1 Visas for International Motorsports Association Drivers and Support Crew Professionals

International Motorsports Association (“IMSA”) is an internationally recognized motorsports body that organizes a series of motorsports events in the United States. Affiliated with NASCAR, IMSA championships are pursued and coveted by many of the world’s premier motorsports enthusiasts and competitors. IMSA championships take place on some of the most famous racetracks in the world and feature vehicles from high-performance vehicle manufacturers such as Mazda, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and prototypes.

IMSA events were able to thrive even during COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 due to a Presidential Exemption Status. The IMSA was one under a dozen motorsports organizations nationwide that were designated by US Customs and Border Protection as exempt from COVID-19 Travel Restrictions. This allowed athletes from places like Brazil, Europe and China to travel to the United States even when the general population was prevented from coming to the United States.
