Mexico Visa Interviews for Third Country Nationals - Consular Processing

Consular Processing is becoming an extremely complicated issue during the COVID-19 Era. Three to four years ago, obtaining a visa interview in a timely manner in a location that is convenient was not very hard. Most clients would choose to get their visa stamped on the passport by themselves. With consulates being closed, having different rules, and publically available dates far into the future, more clients are relyin on professional legal assistance for consular processing. 

Western Hemisphere Appointments- Mexico P-1 and O-1 Appointments

Many clients from ESTA visa waiver countries in Europe and Eurasia travel to the United States on ESTA visa waivers and apply for visas while in the United States. Since they travel on ESTA, which is a waiver of a visa, these persons cannot change status to O-1 or O-1 visas because they are not on a visa. Instead, many of the clients would like to attend a consular interview in the Western Hemisphere rather than travel all the way back to Europe or Australia to attend the interview. 

Our law firm, Sherrod Sports Visas, canvassed all of the consulates in the the Western Hemisphere to find a reliable solution for third country nationals that desire to change status close to the United States. Unfortunately, many consulates do not have timely appointments and/or do not entertain visa appointments for third country nationals. 

One exemption thus far is Tijuana, Mexico. While it does say that Mexico is not open to third country nationals on their website, we have proven success with third country nationals successfully receiving visa interviews at this consulate post. This success  is from as recent as January 2022 (at the time this content was drafted)

The Caviat about Visa Interviews In Mexico 

One issue that needed problem solving was payment of the MRV fee to the Consulate. This is because Mexico is a country that requires cash payment for visa interview fees. Fortunately, our law firm was able to partner with a resource in Mexico that offers visa payment assistance to our customers.
