P-1A Congressional Practice Success – National Interest Waiver – Italian Boxer For Top Rank Inc.
We Are Proud To Announce A Successful National Interest Waiver Exemption For Top Rank Boxing’s Guido Vianello
Guido is an Italian heavyweight boxer who is scheduled to compete in the United States in September. Even after presenting a valid and stamped passport with a P-1A visa, Guido was prevented from getting on the plane by Customs and Border Patrol in Rome. After much effort, our Congressional Inquiry Practice was able to obtain a National Interest Waiver on his behalf.
In June, we were having success preparing individual waivers based on the National Exemption Waiver for combat sports athletes. Guido was the first mark of change when the Customs and Border Patrol agent in Rome informed Guido that they would only accept waivers from organizations that are listed with the Department of Homeland Security.
We Immediately Appealed Our Waiver Request To The Consulate Office In The Room To Make Sure Guido Was Able To Make It Into The United States For His Fight
The consulate accepted the waiver for review but told us that it would take up to 90 days for the review to take place. Our next response was to engage our Congressional Inquiry Practice to get the attention of a United States Senate Office to inquire directly to the consulate on our behalf.
One day after the request, we were informed that the Guido was approved for the National Interest Waiver even without his promoter being listed on the Department of Homeland Security’s exemption list.
