2021 Visa Options for Formula Drift Drivers, Crew Chiefs and Drive Team Executive Members

Formula D, also known as Formula Drift Black Magic Pro Championship, is the premier organization for drift style racing in the United States. Every season, the motorsports organization founded by Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage, brings motorsports professionals from all over the world to the United States. Recently, Formula D enjoyed the designation of being one of the few sports organizations to hold a Presidential Exemption from COVID-19 travel restrictions. 

Unfortunately, this designation was lost during the Biden Administration making it very difficult for teams to come to the United States in time for the upcoming season. Each race not only features drivers for each race, but also many specialized motorsports staff who service cars, parts, track conditions, and road strategy. 

We are working with Formula D drivers and team members to obtain O-1 and P-1 visas to secure consistent access to the United States. We are also providing advocacy to obtain national interest exemptions when possible or find other alternatives to come to the United States.

P-1 Visas for Formula Drift Drivers and P-1S Visas Support Staff

There are over 50 drivers who will compete in the Formula Drift eight-round championship and each one has a large support team. The eight-round championship is a world-respected series of events that can support the itinerary of a P-1 visa. Our law firm uses this racing season to petition for 3-year P-1 for drivers and P-1S for support staff. The most accomplished of the support staff may be eligible to obtain their own 3-year O-1A visas. 

O-1A Visas for Formula D Motorsports Professionals

One does not need to be a driver to obtain their own visa. Our law firm has successfully obtained O-1A for crew chiefs, car engineers, and other motorsports professionals. This is particularly helpful for professionals who may wish to use their talents with multiple teams and or motorsports. We can petition for both O-1 and P-1 visas in a manner that permit using the same work authorization for multiple employers.
